Reiki Healing
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “universal life energy” in Japanese, and it originated in Japan with a man by the name of Mikao Usui in the late 1800s.
Reiki is a gentle holistic practice centering the subtle energy that flows through all living things. It is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that supports the natural ability to heal by restoring balance to the body, mind and spirit.
How does it work?
Reiki is a light touch technique that you will receive while remaining fully clothed, and reclining or sitting comfortably while the Reiki practitioner works either off the body in the aura or non-intrusive touch. Reiki can also be offered as a distant healing practice.
Clearing and balancing are the main goals – to achieve harmony in all levels of our being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. On the physical level, Reiki enhances immunity and goes along with all regular medical care. Reiki down regulates the nervous system, shifting away from stress response into a state of balance in the system.

What are the benefits?
A Reiki session induces a state of profound rest that is deeply healing. A common response to a Reiki treatment is inner peace.
Other impacts Reiki session can give you are:
-
less mental, emotional and physical distress
-
feeling calm and grounded
-
feeling refreshed and balanced in body, mind and spirit
-
increased clarity
-
increased creativity, feeling open and inspired
-
feeling soothed at the soul level
Reiki is gaining acceptance as complementary care and is offered in over 800 hospitals as supportive, nurturing care for body, mind and spirit.
As noted by Northwestern Medicine:
“At the simplest, most obvious level, it appears that Reiki treatment helps lessen the impact of stress, releasing tension from the entire system.”
As noted by the Cleveland Clinic:
“A Reiki treatment may do the following: Support the well-being of a person receiving traditional medical treatments that are debilitating (e.g., chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, kidney dialysis), Detoxify the body, Help to relieve pain, Bring about a peaceful, deep state of relaxation”
